Understanding Your Journey

The Disablement Process

The higher up you are in this process, the more expensive the cost of cover is. Why? Because Insurance Companies know that this is where they will more likely have to pay out (Medical Insurance, Mortgage Protection & Income Protection etc.). The further we move down the Disablement Process towards Life Insurance (which is really 'death insurance'), the cheaper the premiums are. Most people bypass the whole process by only looking at getting Life Insurance. But what if we actually stay alive and have to live with a disability? (not ACC-related) 97% of the world's population goes through this Disablement Process. The other 3% do so, but it happens instantaneously by accident or undiagnosed terminal illness. Let us help you manage these risks.

The Disablement Process - A visual representation showing the journey from healthy through trauma, TPD/severe trauma, terminal illness to death, with insurance products available during the healthy stage. Timeline shows 0-3 months or years with three zones: green zone where full recovery is possible, blue zone where full recovery is not guaranteed, and black zone where life assured will not see benefit unless terminal illness payout is received.

Full Recovery

While healthy and during trauma, you can still make a full recovery. This is where lump sum Trauma Insurance payments can ease financial pressure and allows us to focus on our recovery. It can also mean that our spouse/partner can take off work to assist in the journey to recovery.

Not Guaranteed

Most Life Insurance benefits (paid when we pass away) has built-in Terminal Illness payouts. Having enough lump sum cover to enable us to pay off any major debt and allow us to focus solely on what the next stage of our life will look like. This will usually include not being able to perform daily activities like showering, eating or dressing ourselves. This is where "staying alive" and not being covered by ACC is a major consideration. The government doesn't pay spouses or partners as caregivers in NZ.

Terminal Stage

Most Life Insurance benefits (paid when we pass away) has built-in Terminal Illness payouts. These usually need to have diagnosis confirmed and life expectancy be 12 months or less. Other conditions may apply. This is the cover we leave for our loved ones to assist them in their journey of life without us present.

The best time to secure your protection is while you're healthy.
Don't wait until it's too late.
