OUR FINANCIAL ADVISERS
Wright Way Limited engages the following financial advisers, each registered on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR), to give advice on our behalf:
- Wanda Wright (Managing Director) – personal and business risk insurance, including health insurance.
- Zac Clark – personal and business risk insurance, including health insurance.
- Eileen Li – personal and business risk insurance, including health insurance, and KiwiSaver.
- Nicola Wright-Patterson – personal risk and health insurance.
Your financial adviser will confirm in writing the types of products and the providers they personally advise on before any advice is given. Each adviser’s registration can be checked on the FSPR at www.fsp-register.companiesoffice.govt.nz.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF ADVICE
We provide advice about:
- Personal risk insurance: life, trauma, total and permanent disability, income protection, and mortgage and household expenses cover.
- Health/medical insurance.
- Business risk insurance: key person, shareholder protection and business overheads/expenses cover.
- KiwiSaver schemes – which KiwiSaver provider and which fund(s) may suit you.
We give advice on products from particular product providers only. The providers we use are:
- Life and living insurance: AIA, Asteron Life, Chubb Life, Fidelity Life, Momentum Life, nib and Partners Life.
- Health insurance: AIA, nib, Partners Life and UniMed (which now also issues the former Accuro health plans).
- Health and medical cover for international students, workers and visitors to New Zealand: OrbitProtect (part of nib New Zealand).
- KiwiSaver: Booster, Generate and Milford.
Limitations on the scope of our advice
- We do not compare every provider in the market. Our recommendations are limited to the providers listed above.
- KiwiSaver advice is limited to the KiwiSaver schemes offered by Booster, Generate and Milford, and is given only by our adviser who holds the investment qualification required for that advice. We do not give advice on other investments, such as shares, bonds, non-KiwiSaver managed funds, property or a full investment plan. If you hold KiwiSaver with another provider, we can explain how your current scheme compares, but we can only recommend schemes from the three providers above.
- For OrbitProtect plans, our advice relates to the medical and health cover only. We do not give advice on travel, baggage, property or other general insurance features.
- We do not give mortgage or lending advice, or general insurance advice (for example house, contents, vehicle, pet, travel or business general insurance). We can refer you to someone who does (see Referrals below).
FEES AND EXPENSES
Neither we (Wright Way), nor our advisers, charge clients fees, expenses or any other amount for the financial advice we provide, including KiwiSaver advice. You will not be invoiced or asked to pay any fees to us at any time, even if the engagement of services, or the products placed through this engagement, are terminated by either party.
KiwiSaver providers charge their own fund management and administration fees. These are set by the provider, are deducted from your KiwiSaver account, and are not paid to us. Your adviser will explain the fees of any scheme they recommend.
CONFLICTS OF INTEREST, COMMISSIONS AND INCENTIVES
Insurance
For health and personal and business risk insurance, Wright Way and the financial adviser who gives the advice receive commission from the insurance company whose products we recommend. If you decide to take out insurance that we recommend, the insurer will pay a commission to Wright Way and/or your adviser. The amount of the commission is based on the premium for your cover. Specific commission amounts will be disclosed to you when advice is given.
KiwiSaver
If you join or transfer to a KiwiSaver scheme we recommend, the provider (Booster, Generate or Milford) may pay Wright Way and/or your adviser an upfront and/or ongoing (trail) commission, as set out in our agreement with that provider. These payments are made by the provider and are not an extra charge to you. The specific amounts will be disclosed to you when advice is given.
Other incentives
From time to time, product providers may also reward us for the overall business we provide to them – for example with tickets to events, hampers, training or other incentives.
Our insurance aggregator
For some insurers, we may place business through Link Financial Group (LFG), an insurance aggregator, rather than directly. Where we do, the insurer pays commission to LFG, which passes it on to us. LFG may also provide us with services, training, conference attendance and recognition (such as adviser awards) based in part on the volume of business we place through it. Your adviser will tell you if your insurance will be placed through LFG.
How we manage these conflicts
To ensure our advisers prioritise your interests above their own:
- All Wright Way advisers follow an advice process that ensures recommendations are based on your goals, needs and circumstances.
- For KiwiSaver, we will only recommend that you change provider or fund where we reasonably believe it is in your interests, having considered fees, fund type, your risk profile, investment timeframe, and the services and features of your current scheme. If staying where you are is the better option, we will tell you.
- Insurance replacement advice includes a comparison of your existing cover and an explanation of any benefits you may lose.
- Our advisers complete regular training, including on managing conflicts of interest. Every adviser’s advice files, and our compliance programme, are reviewed regularly by an independent compliance reviewer, Rosewill Consulting Limited, arranged through Link Financial Group.
- We keep a register of conflicts of interest and of gifts and incentives received.

PRIVACY AND YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION (IPP3A NOTIFICATION)
To provide you with financial advice, we need to collect, use and share personal information about you. Wherever reasonably possible, this information is collected directly from you.
There may be times when personal information about you is collected from other sources, including product providers (insurers and KiwiSaver providers), your other advisers, publicly available records, or where required to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
Where personal information is collected indirectly, we will take reasonable steps to ensure you are informed in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. You have the right to request access to, and correction of, the personal information we hold about you.
For further information, please see our Client Privacy Policy on our website, or contact us for a copy.
DUTIES INFORMATION
Wright Way Limited, and anyone who gives financial advice on our behalf, has duties under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 relating to the way that we give advice. We are required to:
- give priority to your interests by taking all reasonable steps to make sure our advice isn’t materially influenced by our own interests;
- exercise care, diligence and skill in providing you with advice;
- meet standards of competence, knowledge and skill set by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services (these are designed to make sure that we have the expertise needed to provide you with advice); and
- meet standards of ethical behaviour, conduct and client care set by the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services (these are designed to make sure we treat you as we should and give you suitable advice).
This is only a summary of the duties that we have. More information is available by contacting us, or by visiting the Financial Markets Authority website at www.fma.govt.nz.
REFERRALS
We can refer you to other professionals for services outside our scope of advice, including general insurance (FG Link), wills and estate planning (Owen C Law), mortgage and lending advice, budgeting and financial mentoring, accounting, and business coaching. We will only pass your details to a referral partner with your permission.
For general insurance (for example house, contents, vehicle, travel and business insurance), we refer clients to FG Link (Insurance Link General Limited), a general insurance broker that is part of the Link Financial Group network – the same group as our insurance aggregator. If you take out insurance through FG Link, FG Link pays Wright Way 15% of the commission it receives from the insurer, both for the first year and on renewals, while our referral agreement continues. This is paid by FG Link out of its own commission and is not an extra charge to you.
Other referral partners may pay us a referral fee or commission. We will tell you about any referral fee or commission before we refer you. Any advice provided by the person or business you are referred to is their responsibility and is not covered by our scope of advice.
